The activities, organized as Keynote Speeches, Round Tables, Discussion Groups and Panels will address current biological topics on the ecology, genetics and evolution of drosophilids. Emphasis will be placed on the studies carried out by the community of Brazilian researchers on Drosophilidae and their international partners.

The objectives of the Symposium are:
i) To divulge and discuss innovative study areas on drosophilids;
ii) To expose the recent advancements on the Ecology, Genetics and Evolution of drosophilids;
iii) To promote an environment of scientific integration between Brazilian researchers from different regions of the country, as well as groups of foreign researchers, creating ground for new cooperation opportunities;
iv) To give young PhDs the opportunity to divulge their main scientific research efforts, promoting Post-Graduation Programs;

Brazilian and foreign speakers will present their research efforts as Keynote Speeches and Round Tables according to relevant themes. Seventeen Brazilian and five foreign keynote speakers will take part in the 3-day event. The participants enrolling in the VIII Symposium on Drosophila Ecology, Genetics and Evolution will have the chance to present the results of their works as Panels, an activity to which five hours and thirty minutes are dedicated in the program.

All results will be published as Abstracts on the website of the VIII Symposium on Drosophila Ecology, Genetics and Evolution.
