The Organizing Committee of the IX Symposium on Drosophila Ecology, Genetics and Evolution are pleased to invite you to take part in the event, to be held from the 8th to the 11th of November, 2015, in Pousada dos Pirineus, Pirenópolis, state of Goiás, Brazil. This is the first time the Symposium is held in the Brazilian Savanna, a hotspot of biodiversity in the Neotropical Region. Pirenópolis is located 60 km from Brasília, the capital of Brazil.
The activities, organized as Keynote Speeches, Round Tables, Discussion Groups and Panels will address current biological topics on the ecology, genetics and evolution of drosophilids. Emphasis will be placed on the studies carried out by the community of Brazilian researchers on Drosophilidae and their international partners.
The objectives of the Symposium are:
i) To divulge and discuss innovative study areas on drosophilids;
ii) To expose the recent advancements on the Ecology, Genetics and Evolution of drosophilids;
iii) To promote an environment of scientific integration between Brazilian researchers from different regions of the country, as well as groups of foreign researchers, creating ground for new cooperation opportunities;
iv) To give young PhDs the opportunity to divulge their main scientific research efforts, promoting Post-Graduation Programs;
v) To offer a varied and qualified scientific program, awarding the best research works submitted to the eighth edition of the Symposium;
vi) To expressively increase the number of national and foreign participants, professors and students alike.
Brazilian and foreign speakers will present their research efforts as Keynote Speeches and Round Tables according to relevant themes. The participants enrolling in the Symposium will have the chance to present the results of their works as Panels.
All results will be published as Abstracts on the website of the IX Symposium on Drosophila Ecology, Genetics and Evolution.
